Our focus animals
At the ACCB, we care for a wide range of animals. We currently have around 1,000 individuals in our care. Some are rescues or confiscated animals, others we have bred ourselves locally, and some we have deliberately taken from the wild for breeding purposes. Below, we introduce you to our priority species, which we work with particularly intensively.
All species have in common that they are listed as critically endangered or at least endangered according to the IUCN Red List.

Birds
At the ACCB, we keep and breed some of the world's most endangered bird species. These include the White-shouldered Ibis and the Bengal Florican.

Turtles
and Tortoises
Turtles are one of the most endangered species on our planet. At the ACCB, we have several breeding programs and successful release programs to save these special animals from extinction.

Mammals
Although our focus isn't on mammals, animals from rescues and confiscations regularly come to the ACCB. Where possible, we care for the animals and prepare them for release back into the wild.
